Akia Squiteri
(Director)
Akia Squitieri is an active member of the flourishing Off-Off/Indie & Off Broadway theatre communities having produced, directed, and performed with numerous NYC companies for over 10 years. She is the Company Manager for The Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theater. Proudly, she is the Founding Artistic Director of the Rising Sun Performance Company, now in entering its 12th season, and has been involved on all levels with each of its 45+ productions. A Board Member of The Paul Butterfield Fund & Society, and Company Manager for The New York Innovative Theatre Awards & Foundation, where she serves on their honorary awards committee and as an At-Large Judge. Past credits include working on-staff at Horse Trade Theatre Group, serving as General Manager for FRIGID New York’s inaugural year, and as Volunteer Coordinator in 2009; she also served as Production Coordinator for Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, overseeing the playwrights unit and INSIGHT 13. In 2009 she was the recipient of the New York Innovative Theatre Awards “Founders Award” for her contributions to the organization & Community. She has received critical & audience acclaim for her direction of RSP’s hits: Hellcab, Goodnight Lovin’ Trail, The Last Supper and most recently first NYC revival of BUG by Tracy Letts.

Christina Germaine
(Performer)
Christina Germaine (Lee) holds a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, where ensemble work was a vital part of her theatre studies. She survived the crash of our Great American Economy as a member of the always thriving Pigeon Forge theatre community, performing with the Hoot N' Holler ensemble at Wonderworks, TN for 3 years. After receiving an invitation to study at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, she moved to NYC in the summer of 2010. She was thrilled to be a part of last season's project Hotel Suite, performing one of her dream roles as May in Sam Shepard's Fool for Love, and is very proud to call Rising Sun her artistic home here in NYC.

John Patrick Bray
(Playwright)
John Patrick Bray has written plays under grants from The N.E.A. and Acadiana Center for the Arts. His plays have been published with Next Stage Press, Heartland Plays, The Riant Theatre, JACPublishing; John also has monologues and ten-minute plays published in Smith and Kraus anthologies, as well as a play in THE BEST AMERICAN SHORT PLAYS 2010-2011. John's plays have been produced in a number of venues and with a number of companies in NYC, as well as independent venues around the country. Also a scholar, John teaches at the University of Georgia. Meg Dowling
(Stage Manager)
Meg Dowling is a recent graduate of East Stroudsburg University and moved to NYC from Philadelphia in January. Most recently she directed a short play in the Looking Glass Theatre's Writer/director Forum, stage managed and assistant directed Looking Glass’ production of The Angel Play and was the ASM for High Stakes Theater’s production of Black Milk. Previously, she was a summer 2011 intern for New York Classical Theatre’s productions of School for Husbands and Henry V, which included a ferry ride for 500 people. In 2009 she interned at People’s Light in Malvern, PA on their production of End Days. College credits include: ASM for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, and acting in productions including the one-act, Beauty, and the Shakespearean comedy, As You Like It.

Mike Aguirre
(Performer)
Mike Aguirre is a graduate from Indiana University with a B.A. in Theatre and English. A native to Chicago, Mike has worked with the Windy City Players, First Folio, Steppenwolf, The Wilma Theater (Philadelphia), and the Hexagon Theatre (South Africa). Since arriving in New York, he’s worked with The Pearl Theatre (City Center), Wide Eyed Productions, and two of his plays have been workshopped with Chelsea Rep and Lab. Mike is the 2013 Resident Playwright for RSP, and was most recently seen RSP’s critically acclaimed production of “Bug” by Tracy Letts.

Nic Mevoli

Nic Mevoli (Coffee and Cigarettes) has been working with Rising Sun since 2003, and has appeared in many of their productions including: A Royal Toil, The Off Broadway Revival of An Adult Evening of Shel Silverstein, The Crucible, "Amerikan Mine" and RSP’s Touring & NYC Productions of Goodnight Lovin' Trail; most notably he received rave reviews as the Cab Driver in their hit production of Hellcab, which ran for 13 Weeks at Under St Marks Theater 2005-06. He co-wrote and starred in the acclaimed feature film “Exist” directed by Esther Bell. He has also been seen on the Chappelle Show on Comedy Central and is an accomplished Scenic & Properties Artist

Nzinga Williams
(Assistant Director)
Nzinga Williams is a New York Based stage and production manager. Her past credits with RSP include: One Acts Festival '11 (stage manager) and 10th anniversary mash up (stage manager). She also works closely with the IT awards and others in the indie theater community. Her latest credits include: Much Ado About Nothing (off Broadway - PA), ENCORE!! (with chamber theater productions as Company Stage manager), 2 years of Venue directing for FRINGE NYC, and Black Milk (off Broadway- Stage Manager). She has also worked as a sound designer/editor. This is her first year on Staff and she could not be more excited to be working with such an amazing group of people. She loves knitting, puppies, and is single.... (just saying). She also looks forward to an amazing 2013 season that will generate incredible works!

Ryan Dusek

Ryan Dusek (Coffee & Cigarettes U/S) is a recent graduate of The New School for Drama’s MFA program and is enjoying his first season with Rising Sun. He has spent several season’s with the Oxford Shakespeare Festival and played several roles such as Romeo, Hotspur and Duke Orsino. He recently made his NYC Debut in Rising Sun’s production of “Fool for Love” a part of Hotel Suite.

Sarah Norris

Sarah Norris is a director and actor who enjoys writing as well! She is thrilled to find a new theatrical home with Rising Sun. Originally from Alabama, she moved to NY several years ago to pursue a career in the theatre. Some of her favorite directing credits include: Romeo and Juliet (Bottom Dog Theatre, Ireland), Jekyll & Hyde, Singin’ in the Rain, Show Boat, The Producers, Oklahoma!, Beauty and the Beast (Forestburgh Playhouse), Arthur and Esther (NY Fringe), Snore (Looking Glass Theatre, NYC), The Sex Situation (Players Theatre, NYC), Sin City: The Vaudeville Years (Adelaide Fringe Festival, Australia). Sarah has an MFA in Directing from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and a BA in Theatre from the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa – Roll Tide! Tim Butterfield
(Director)
Tim Butterfield serves as Literary Manager for Rising Sun. He is also the Director of The Straphanger Collective, a non-profit dedicated to helping young writers find their voice and their process. Tim holds a B.A. in Theater from Brooklyn College, an M.F.A. in Directing from the New School for Drama and works regularly as a director, writer, and fight director. He has worked Off-Broadway, Off-off and regionally in all capacities. Tim recently directed the 2012 NYIT Awards show, a site-specific production of Sam Shepard’s Fool for Love for Rising Sun, A short film entitled “Underneath” and a parody vignette for Funny or Die.
