Flying Forms is a baroque chamber music ensemble that is quickly establishing a presence in the America's early music scene. Formed out of a passion for performing early chamber music Flying Forms collaborates with prominent musicians, musicologists and baroque dancers in a wide variety of programs from traditional to experimental.  Recent performances have included concerts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Yale University, Symphony Space, (le) Poisson Rouge and Stony Brook University where the group presented a concert in February, 2008 of seven new works commissioned for period instruments.  Also of note is Flying Forms' second appearance at the Boston Early Music Festival in June of 2009 where the group produced and performed, as part of a New York/Boston tour, a fully staged and critically acclaimed production of Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas. Hailed by harpsichordist Arthur Haas as "the bright future of early music," Flying Forms is committed to being a presence that transforms communities and inspires expression through excellence in performance, innovative education and creative collaboration.

In the 2010-11 season Flying Forms has a wide range of exciting performance and educational activities planned. Including performances at the Schubert Club and Concordia University in Minnesota and the Islip Arts Council and Southampton Cultural Center in New York Flying Forms will launch it’s own series of concerts in Saint Paul, Minnesota.  Featuring repertoire for various ensembles, from harpsichord and violin duo to string orchestra, and including a concert of contemporary music written for early instruments, the series will expose audiences to music for early instruments spanning over 400 years.  In addition, Flying Forms is developing the show Chaconne with Paradizo Dance and Horse Trade Theater to premiere at the Boston Early Music Festival in June of 2011. Thanks to an Arts Learning grant from the Metro Regional Arts Council, Flying Forms will be in a year-long residence at several Minnesota high schools and the Saint Paul Conservatory of Music in the 2010-11 season where the group will present lecture/recitals, hands-on workshops with Baroque instruments from Flying Forms’ instrument collection and provide a performance opportunity for students to perform alongside Flying Forms musicians.

Other projects include Flying Forms debut recording, to be recorded in the fall of 2010 and released early in 2011 as well as the opening of The Baroque Room, a performance space managed by Flying Forms, in partnership with the Lyra Baroque Orchestra, located in the Lowertown area of downtown Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Baroque Room, with a maintained harpsichord and piano on loan from the Schubert Club, will serve as a resource for early musicians as well as the chamber music community at large.
